How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…

The Destination Marketing team delivers high quality, high impact destination marketing activities to support business prosperity by encouraging visitation and spend in the city. Marketing activity has a strong focus on retail, hospitality and entertainment offerings with destination appeal, and is supported by What’s On channels plus delivery and facilitation of other marketing assets.

The Social Media & Content Manager leads and manages What’s On Melbourne content and channel strategy to deliver year-round promotion for city businesses, events and attractions and support all Experience Melbourne campaign and integrated marketing activities. High performing channel activity is maintained through applying principles of continual optimisation, innovation and best practice to all digital and social media marketing activities.

This position will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, in particular city businesses, selected industries and precincts, to get their involvement, ownership and support of high quality marketing and communications activities.


What you will bring

  • Demonstrated experience in leading a team to achieve high performance outcomes with coaching skills to develop team capabilities, team cohesion and the ability to effectively manage conflict and under performance.
  • Analytical and lateral thinking skills and the ability to take the initiative, drive change and implement innovations
  • Proficient writer and content producer for both online and offline channels, with experience working in an integrated marketing environment.
  • Highly experienced in the management of social media channels, content management systems and digital reporting tools.
  • Creative and ideas-driven individual who is solution focused, demonstrates resourcefulness and the ability to deliver in a complex and pressure driven environment

Desireable...

  • Knowledge of the city’s destination experiences including hospitality, retail, tourism and cultural attractions and events, and ability to apply this knowledge to content ideation, creation and audience engagement.
