SEB Investor Services Luxembourg is the business unit responsible for the depositary function and the global custody product for institutional clients. Our client segment consists mainly of Luxembourg domiciled investment funds and some large corporates.
SEB Luxembourg branch serves as the hub for private banking services to Nordic nationals living abroad. It is also the base for many of SEB’s funds and offers global custody and related depositary services to financial institutions. We are around 150 employees with over 20 different nationalities. Our institutional global custody product covers around 80 markets.
About the Position
We are currently looking for a Head of Depositary Services and Oversight on a permanent basis. The position will report locally to the Head of Investor Services and to the Head of Depositary Services and the Head of Global Custody in the SEB Group.
As Head of Depositary Services and Oversight, your main responsibilities will include:
- Being responsible for the day-to-day management of the Depositary team which includes:
- fit and proper design of the depositary model in Luxembourg
- strong focus on regulatory compliance
- efficient process design, scalability
- alternative/real assets servicing model
- collaboration with SEB internal teams
- analyse and implement new rules and regulations in a robust, efficient, and audit-proof way
- lead through example and empowerment
- be comfortable in managing cross-functional agile teams to further enhance and develop our offering, products and processes based on the strategic agenda.
- Supporting the department head including taking over tasks and responsibilities, such as:
- regulatory reporting
- audit reports
- due diligences questionnaire response
- design of the department control framework
- AML/KYC compliance
- leading CSSF visit preparations
- Taking over general department responsibilities and lead projects allocated to the department
- Performing stakeholder management within SEB Luxembourg and SEB Group including global custody, control functions and other areas
- Leading and/or supporting all sales activities, including
- meeting preparations and participations
- depositary contract negotiations
- fee agreements and
- act as sponsor for new clients towards the SEB Group.
You will stay close to global relationship management and participate in internal sales meetings. You will be involved in client onboarding including KYC/AML identification and supporting the client service management team in the account opening process. Travel to the SEB headquarter and other SEB sites may be required.
As Team Head you will also act as escalation point towards the internal and external customers and represent the depositary function and the department overall in senior internal forums and in client meetings.
Your profile
You are a highly motivated person with strong managerial experience ideally proven in a previous senior role and the following requirements:
- strong experience in managing budget and cost targets
- strong project management skills and experience in project management techniques
- a proven track record with sales activity and a strong
- strong understanding of Luxembourg funds structures, the role of a Luxembourg depositary bank
- strong and solid knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of the main parties involved in servicing investment funds.
You acquired a university degree in Business Administration, Mathematics, Accounting. Law or similar and have 10+ years of experience in the investment fund industry, advisory, audit or similar. Your communication skills are excellent, and you are fluent in English (both written and spoken). Knowledge of a Nordic language and strong Excel skills are considered a plus.

You are client driven, service minded and demonstrate strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to work autonomously but at the same time act as a team-player. You like multicultural and professional environments, and you have a precise and rigorous approach to work.
You are a collaborative team-player with good communication and presentation skills. You have a good knowledge of the Microsoft 365 applications.
